Am in London now and trying to kill time

Claremont May 27th 2007
We talked all the way up to the house. The closer we got the more familiar was the sight. I loved to see the mountains again. It was still in the city, but everything seems more rural up here and I was so glad when we entered New Bedford Ave and all the house were still the same, the same trees and the same smell. Just the table is in a different place at the house, everything else is still there. There is a swing on a tree now and a little treehouse on the other side because Randy and his wife and son moved here from Dallas about 10 months ago. They live close by now. Just Robbie moved from Santa Barbara to Delaware with his wife. So he is further away now.
We arrived at around 5:30. I said hi to Lorna we talked a little and then I went upstairs to take a shower. (so great and with pressure LOL) I changed and unpacked and …. Found Marenas ticket. I called Amby and he wants to find out if we can get a refund. The damn thing must have fallen out of the plastic bag where I must have put it in with all the other things that had been in my rucksack. And I found it between my socks and panties. Great place for a ticket.
So after that I went downstairs and outside in the garden. Ken and I talked about my paper. He is in business too, so he kind of knew what I was talking about although he isn’t that familiar with the European Accounting Standards. We had dinner together and talked for a little while until they wanted to go to bed. I went upstairs and decided to go to bed too. I fell asleep immediately and slept for about 11 hours. The first night of real sleep that I got here in Cali and the first day to come with no real plans.

Monday May 28th 2007 Memorial Day
I slept until 7:30 but didn’t get up until 8:30. It was just too comfi in bed and I wanted to stay in there. I had slept so deep that I didn’t even move that much and you’d barely see that I used the bed. So I got up and went to the bathroom. I texted my dad back and told him to just call me. I went down to have breakfast. No one was around, but there was a plate set for me so I just had breakfast and while I was having it Lorna showed up. We talked a little until my dad called. I talked to him for a little while and then Lorna asked me if I wanted to come around to the other house where Randy and his wife are living now. They wanted to do some gardening for them. So I agreed and went down there with them. It’s just around the block and I sat in the garden under grapes and wrote a letter and read a little. Every now and then I had to pet one of Randys 3 dogs. Just to cute the guys. I will be at their place again on Thursday so I can take pics :D I met Randy and his son first. They came outside to say hello and a little while later Shelli came out too and we talked a little. Every one’s so nice and friendly and I wish I could stay longer. Shelli offered me to go shopping with me and take me to town. We might do that on Thursday then. Tomorrow I’ll just stay here in the house, maybe drive downtown with Lorna later and on Wednesday Lornas sister Remi will take me to China Town. I love it there and Lorna says her sister knows everyone and she gets really good deals. But I don’t want to shop that much anymore. I already have so many things and my bag is so heavy I don’t know how to get it all back home.
So at around 12 Lorna called me and we left because it was getting very hot. If you know the climate around here in Los Angeles especially so close to the mountains you’d know what I am talking about. It’s cloudy and foggy until noon and then it gets very hot and cools off again as soon as the sun disappears and then you really need warm clothes.
So we went down to a Mexican restaurant and had some burritos for lunch before driving back to the house. Lorna went to take a nap and I just went upstairs and started to clean my luggage out. I threw away some of the wrappings of the stuff I bought some unnessary paper stuff and reduced my luggage like that. Not so many bags left now. When I was done with that I listened to the Pirates music while typing my little report for the meetup. At around 4 I heard someone talking downstairs and a kid yelling so I went downstairs and Randy and Shello were already there. Randy was cooking. Some friends of Ken and Lornas would come by for the Memorial Day bbq.
I had a little chat with Randy, went upstairs to read some more and came back down at around 5:30 when everyone started coming. It was a really funny little round. Lornas sisters and husband were there, both over 80 years old, Randy, Shelli and Alex, Ron and Anette, the couple from next door who just had gotten back home from vacation and Ken, Lorna and me. They asked a whole lot of questions about me, Germany and what not. I shared some pics with Ken, Lorna, Ron and Anette, because all the others had already gone home. Randy and Shelli have to work tomorrow and Remi and Joe were just too tired.
So after dinner I had a little chat with Anette and they left at around 7. Lorna, Ken and I sat down in the living room and talked a little more.
I just got out of the shower and decided to finish my daily report so I won’t be behind. And I guess I’ll write a little now before going to bed. I really like the early bed going thing here. The bed is cosy warm and I will wake up again early when the sun comes in. So there will be more about my lazy days here in Claremont tomorrow. A little more excitement on Wednesday and a maybe a rather sad one on Thursday. I will be at Randys and go out for dinner with Ken and Lorna. There’s a party they are invited to and they will take me. There are some local politicians there and I am curious on what that turns out to be.

I slept in again and had breakfast alone because everyone else was already awake and following their daily work. I spent the morning reading and writing my letters. After lunch Ken took me to downtown Claremont. I went to the post office first and later on to the library. I had a bagel and 42nd street Bagel and we stopped by a record store. They have used cds and I am thinking about getting one there. Well not sure yet. I have one more day.
I took some pictures and it was almost dinner time when we got back. We had self made tacos and fresh lemon lemonade. After dinner I went upstairs and tata my compi worked with Kens connection. Unlike today. It wouldn’t sign on, so I have to ask him if they changed something with the network, cause he works from home. I just wanted to check my mails and it kept telling me that I have only low or no connection at all because of a network problem and it wouldn’t give me an IP adress.
Tomorrow I have to go online, cause I need to check in and reserve my seats for the flights the day after tomorrow. (it’s Wednesday already)
So yeah I wrote mails and made an update as you all might have seen, checked my flights and then I went over to my bedroom. I had to get up early because Remi and I went to Chinatown today and she wanted to meet me at around 8 in the morning.
I had a not so very pleasant night. Lots of waking ups because I thought I’d oversleep. Oh well, I had plenty of sleep the other days. So I might just nap a little now. It’s about 3 o’clock right now.

Wednesday May 30th 2007
As you already know now, I got up at around 5:30. I stayed in bed though and read a little and just spent some time inbetween being awake and asleep.
At 7 I went to take a quick shower and then downstairs for breakfast. Ken and I left at 8 to pick up Remi and he then drove us to the bus station. It took 90 minutes with the Silver Streak to get to Downtown LA, because of the wonderful traffic :D I guess a guy named Jensen Ackles mentioned in an interview how much you need a calming voice in LA traffic and yes, guys that was no understatement. If traffic down in Anaheim was bad, this was 10 times worse if not more.
We ended up walking the short distance to Chinatown. I was just so surprised how fit Remi is. She is 80 years old. But she had no problems all morning. Just the occasional hanging onto me while crossing a street. We must have looked weird. The old lady from the Phillipines and me :D but I liked it a lot with her. Although it was hard to understand her at times, because she has a heavy accent. I’m sure Amby knows what I meand :D
So in Chinatown we bought Ginger and Remi bought shorts for her husband Joe, a really cute old guy of 83 :D with a bad hearing problem. They are so lovely and adorable together :D And I bought a little trolley. So nothing to worry about anymore concerning the luggage. My dad texted me and told me he’ll take care of my money and he’ll give me some extra money that I don’t have to give back. He told me to shop some more. Hm, I wonder if he thinks that this was a bad idea * LOL * giving me the license to shop. But yeah, maybe the cds and I want to ask Lorna if she can drop me off by a bookstore or something before dinner.
Shouldn’t do that too late.
I ended up staying at the house and napping. It was a good thing though. Was really tired :D

Thursday May 31st, 2007
I went to Pasadena with Remi. We spent 5 hours in the bus, 30 minutes in Pasadena and drove to Montclair Plaza to go shopping. I bought 3 shirts and 2 kids shirts at the Disney Store.
I spent the evening with Randy, Shelley and Alex. We went to the open house at Alex kindergarten and had dinner afterwards. Randy took me to a icecream parlor named Maggie Moo. They mix up all sorts of icecream with cookies and stuff. Very yummy.
I was back at Ken and Lornas at around 10 to pack.

Friday June 1st 2007
Didn’t sleep that much in the night. I took a shower packed and killed the time, reading and writing. At 1 a cab picked me up and at around 3 I was at the airport. Everything was really quick. Talked to Amby for half an hour on the phone and 20 minutes after that boarding started. I slept for about 4 hours on the plane, finished Miss Potter and listened to a lot of music.
Arrived here in London on Saturday at aroun 12. Right on time. Security check was quick and now I am sitting here, using a hotspot to kill the time again.
I hate waiting. LOL. And the flight was so bumby and uncomfi today. Not very nice.
Am really glad when I am back home.
But I had a wonderful time in Cali.

I lol'ed so hard about the ticket. Just..heh. I knew that you would find it. I just KNEW it.

Sounds like you had a really great time in Claremont. Must be comforting to know that you can return after all of these years and still feel right at home. ^_^
